Dear Ukrainians!
With all my heart I congratulate you on Easter, the brightest and most joyful holiday of the Christian world!
Easter is a holiday of eternal renewal and hope. The Resurrection of Christ brings us joy, spring, and happiness. And also – confidence that there are forces of goodness, faith and justice in the world which can never be overcome by anyone.
I want today to make the world at least a little kinder and brighter. And it is in our power to change life, to make it better. Open your arms to one another, love, do good and forgive. That is our mission. That is the mission of humanity.
Everyone has moments in life when he suffers. And whole nations, whole countries go through similar trials. Two things are necessary for victory: faith and love. And today Ukraine needs them more than ever. Sincerely love your country and firmly believe in victory and God’s intercession. That you can defend your life, your land and your freedom.
Empires are ruined, dictatorships are falling to dust, ideologies are passing into oblivion, but the Cross is inviolable and calls on man to rise above fear and indifference and to believe in himself, in his strength, his talent, his future. Darkness is not eternal, though the twilight before the dawn seems thicker. You can do it all!
I wish you peace, happiness and irresistible faith. Christ is Risen!
