It was a great honour to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the great Chingiz Aitmatov at an event dedicated to this outstanding figure in Kyiv, where I arrived at the invitation of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to Ukraine, Mr Idris Kadyrkulov.
The event was attended by a large number of high-ranking officials – Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary from different countries, members of the Ukrainian Parliament, representatives of the educational and scientific community.
The guests were shown a film dedicated to the writer’s work and a presentation of a new edition of his book. The hall was decorated with a photo exhibition and an art gallery.
“I was honoured to present Mr Idris with a copy of Taras Shevchenko’s book Kobzar as a sign of deep respect and recognition of his great contribution to culture. In addition, as part of the cultural exchange, I presented him with gifts from the Republic of Moldova as a symbol of friendship and diversity of our national traditions.
The moments of exchange of views and cultural values demonstrated the warm relations and underlined the importance of cooperation between our countries. In addition, I also received from Mr Idris Kadyrkulov a book “Selected Works” by Chingiz Aitmatov, which has become another valuable gem in my cultural collection.
We continue to build diplomatic bridges and strengthen cultural ties.
