Bilateral relations between Ukraine and Moldova

Diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Moldova were established on March 10, 1992.

The last high-level contacts:

March 25, 2021 – Ukrainian-Moldovan political consultations at the level of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine V.Bodnar and State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova D. Sokolan (Kyiv).

January 12, 2021 – the first foreign visit of President of Moldova Maia Sandu to Ukraine. Ukrainian President V.Zelenskyy, Ukrainian Prime-Minister D.Shmygal and Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada D. Razumkov met with the newly elected Moldovan President. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy and Moldovan President Sandu signed a joint statement declaring the creation of the Presidential Council. The Heads of States signed the Memorandum on the development of transport and transit potential of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova.

December 10, 2020. – visit of Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs D.Kuleba to Moldova, during which he met with Moldovan President M.Sandu, held negotiations with Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration A.Ciocoi, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Finance of Moldova S.Pushcutsa, Chairman of Moldovan Parliament Z.Greceanîi.

October 5, 2020. – visit of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine V.Bodnar to Moldova, during which he had a meeting with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova D.Cujba. Also the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Comrat (ATU Gagauz-Yeri, Republic of Moldova) took place.

August 4, 2020. – Visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova O.Tulea to Ukraine, during which he met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine D.Kuleba. The ministers signed a plan of consultations between the ministries for 2021-2022. During the visit to Kyiv, O.Tulea also had a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories O.Reznikov

July 22, 2020. – Ukrainian-Moldovan political consultations in the format of videoconference at the level of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine V. Bodnar and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova D. Sokolan.

June 30, 2020. – Video conference between the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister for Reintegration of the temporary occupied territories O. Reznikov and the Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova for Reintegration K. Lesnik.

April 9, 2020. – Phone conversation between Ukrainian Prime Minister D. Shmygal and Moldovan Prime Minister I. Chicu.

March 18, 2020. – Phone conversation between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine D. Kuleba and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova O.Tulea.

December 12, 2019 – meeting of Ukrainian Prime Minister O. Honcharuk with Moldovan Prime Minister I.Chicu as part of his visit to Ukraine and participation in the summit of heads of government of GUAM member states.

November 23, 2019 – meeting of Ukrainian Prime Minister O.Honcharuk with Moldovan Prime Minister I.Chicu as a part of their participation in the London Investment Forum.

November 05, 2019 – working meeting of Ukrainian Foreign Minister V. Prystayko with Georgian Foreign Minister D. Zalkaliani and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova N.Popescu as a part of their participation in the events dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership (Sweden).

September 9, 2019 – visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration N. Popescu to Ukraine, during which he met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine V. Prystayko, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine O. Danylyuk, Vice-Speaker of the Supreme Council of Ukraine R. Stefanchuk.

July 22, 2019 – phone conversation between Ukrainian President V. Zelenskyy and Moldovan Prime Minister M.Sandu.

11 July 2019 – Moldovan Prime Minister M. Sandu visited Ukraine for a working meeting with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy and Ukrainian Prime Minister V. Groysman.

May 20, 2019 – President of Ukraine V. Zelenskyy met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova T.Ulianovschi in Kyiv.
